The world’s best Light Lager!

Posted on 30 July 2008 by ericbritt

My quest has ended! If you don’t already know I favor the lager brews especially during the summer. I have always wanted to find a micro brewed lager that I enjoyed! Well recently I went to the land of Sam Walton and Wal-mart and visited the gorgeous little college town of Fayetteville, Arkansas, home of [...]

US prefers beer to wine

Posted on 30 July 2008 by Chris

Beer has regained the US adult drink-of-choice title after several years of sharing with, or even losing to, wine. Beer has a double-digit lead over wine in the latest Gallop poll. “The trend back to beer reflects a shift among drinkers aged 30 to 49 years old, the survey indicates.”
I won’t get into the beer [...]

Craft Beer and Comic Book Pairings (no, really)

Posted on 29 July 2008 by Gservo

Yes, I am serious and I am over 21. I am a Comic Book reading adult. I like a good quality beer with my comics occasionally. I am not saying to open up a beer for every comic you read, it’s just nice, now and then. You see a great part of drinking craft [...]

Tree shrew lives on a diet of “microbrew”

Posted on 29 July 2008 by Chris

The diet of the pintail tree shrew, which lives in the jungles of Malaysia, consists almost entirely of the alcoholic, beer-like nectar of the bertam palm.
The flowers apparently “smell like a brewery,” which sounds pretty sweet to me. I wonder how it tastes?
[T]he flower buds function as brewing chambers — they have been invaded by [...]

Utopians invade Europe!

Posted on 25 July 2008 by Brant

We began our trip in London, where thankfully, they speak English! A whirlwind day and a half with the Changing of the Guards, Crown Jewels, Piccadilly Circus and bad dental hygiene. A two hour train ride through the Chunnel brought us to Paris where all but the most dedicated beer drinker (Linda) took a break [...]

Support your local brewery - become a Beer Activist

Posted on 25 July 2008 by Chris

The $52 billion buyout of of Anheuser-Busch by InBev has grabbed a lot of headlines lately and highlights just how big the business of beer is. But, 97% of beer in this country is made by 3% of the breweries. This creates a marketplace in which the little guys have a hard time competing, even [...]

Does Fat Tire taste funny to you?

Posted on 23 July 2008 by Chris

I’ve had several Fat Tires lately and frankly they have tasted a little off. Come to think of it, the 1554 Belgian Black Ale and Tripple Belgian Style Ale, also from New Belgium Brewery, have tasted funny as well.
Don’t get me wrong. I think New Belgium is a great brewery. They are one of the [...]

NJ BEER GOES HERE::The Cricket Hill Brewery visit

Posted on 22 July 2008 by Gservo

Not really a tour as much a tasting and a gathering of like-minded beer drinkers. This was my first time at a local brewery, since I found out they existed. The people were, to use the cliché, warm and friendly. Everybody was there for the beer, plain and simple. It was good beer too. I [...]

Mondial de la Bière de Montreal

Posted on 22 July 2008 by Brant

The weather upon my return to the Mondial de la Bière de Montreal on Saturday was foul; the festival’s patrons, in such conditions, were far fewer and as my friend and I ascended the stair coming from the street below we felt we were becoming part of some high-powered elite, composed of an asymmetrical blend [...]
