US prefers beer to wine

Posted on 30 July 2008 by Chris

Beer and skyBeer has regained the US adult drink-of-choice title after several years of sharing with, or even losing to, wine. Beer has a double-digit lead over wine in the latest Gallop poll. “The trend back to beer reflects a shift among drinkers aged 30 to 49 years old, the survey indicates.”

I won’t get into the beer vs. wine debate, both beverages have their own merits, but it is interesting that beer has come back so strongly. I suspect that the craft beer movement may have a lot to do with the trend. People are discovering that beer can be just as complex and flavorful as wine, perhaps even more so.

Here’s to beer!

I’m with you, gservo. My only regret is that I drank bad beer for too long before discovering what real beer was. I even tried to become a cork-dork but I just didn’t get wine.
